John Wizards // John Wizards LP

Ringing out the last of the summer sun is Cape Town hailing John Wizards with their newly released and self titled album. Taking obvious influences from their home continental stylings and piecing them together with more far flung sounds, the release mixes and nullifies genre boundaries; effortlessly taking jangly African summer suited vibes and putting a splash of electronic production on them. The release comes courtesy of Planet Mu and perhaps signifies a stroll into the more straight-edged electronic pop sound for the label. The LP was released in the UK on 2nd September. You can listen snippets of the album and purchase from the Planet Mu website, and get the album track 'Hogsback' as a free download here.

Holy Ghost! // Dumb Disco Ideas

Synth pop duo Holy Ghost! recently announced that they'll be releasing a follow up to their self titled 2011 debut LP come this autumn. Although no solid dates have been confirmed for the release, they have gave a glimpse what's in store with their first single Dumb Disco Ideas. The track follows the current crop of like minded releases which DFA Records have over the years became known for; releasing music with a bounce to it, funk(ayyyy) bass, and perhaps most prevalently...a cowbell. The accompanying colour-rich rooftop video will raise the same question in many a persons head who are looking for a nice centre piece in their front room asking 'where do I get me one of those light box thingy's?' (seriously, where?). We also have access to an instrumental take on Dumb Disco Ideas available for listening here, and you can get your mitts on the download over at the DFA store, here.

Rex The Dog // Do You Feel What I Feel (Tiger & Woods Remix)

Do You Feel What I Feel is an electro-pop ode to Georgio Moroder’s and Donna Summer's timeless classic 'I Feel Love' from the highly consciously stylised outfit 'duo' Rex The Dog, bringing it into a solar powered  auto-tuned disco tinted 21st century. Highly appealing at first glimpse, but seemingly missing a certain ingredient which comes in the form of Italian duo, Tiger & Woods. It's the usual slice, dice, and paste job which has become a glaring trademark for the pair who seem to be well within their comfort zone as the current wave of disco orientated tracks continue to command notoriety. Another for the Saturday night playlist.
Rex The Dog's Do You Feel What I Feel is being released on 6th May through Southern Fried on both 12" and digital.
