Floating Points // Summer13at45 Mix

Floating Points (Sam Shepherd) recently celebrated the 4th birthday of Eglo Records by putting on an event at the Jazz Cafe over in Camden Town, London, showcasing all involved in the label. Mr Shepherd took on spinning responsibilities in between sets and delved into his collection of 45's for the evening, and to the delight of all who were not there and are looking for a soundtrack to the sun has made the set available to stream and download. The track listing for the set is as seen before you in the picture above and, as much as I would like to decipher it into a more readable format, my resolution lets me down somewhat. Best hope that Shazam does the job. Listen below and download here.

Floating Points // Wires

Floating Points is usually a mainstay on the playlists in our little corner of the world, and it's not so uncommon to be caught cuddling one of his 12 inches in a darkened room with a glass of red (like every Friday night). His latest offering comes in the form of the 11 mins and 11 secs long track Wires - taken off the previously posted about Eglo Records Vol. 1 compilation album - which sees him collaborate with no less than 12 fellow musicians, a prospect which seems to have been fully embraced to create a meandering track full of everything from strings, to keys, to brass. A combination which might not seem too out of the ordinary, but let's not forget who's at the helm here. Eglo Records Vol. 1 is released on 29th April, take a trip into Wires below...

[EDIT: Wires has just been made available to be snatched up on 12", with its official release date being set as 5th August. Purchase here.]

Monday

Eglo Records Vol. 1 Compilation

A 4th birthday is usually the milestone which signifies the end of the easy life; no more chilling in a pram, getting waited on by your mum and not a blind eye being turned when you decide that the toilet is going to be wherever you're standing. Then BAM, you're at school with a career plan being laid out by your 1st year teacher (still a bitter subject).
For Sam Shepherd (Floating Points) and Rinse FM show host Alexander Nut the 4th year celebrations for the co-owned Eglo Records is one which brings around a treat for us all, coming the form of a 2x CD chronological compilation of some past releases from artists on the label and affiliates including the likes of Fatima, Funkineven, and of course Floating Points. Simply titled Eglo Records Vol. 1, it is also promised to contain four exclusive tracks as well as some of the more hard to find vinyl releases from the label. I'd take it over a birthday caterpillar cake any day (only just). Eglo Records Vol. 1 gets its release on the 29th April, avert your eyes downwards for the tracklisting and a Floating Points classic...
